At Vicinia Gardens, it is our mission to provide high-quality care with all the comforts of home. Our intermediate care facilities (ICF) are designed to provide specialized care and programs for individuals suffering from early- to mid-stage dementia in the least restrictive manner possible. In Intermediate Care, seniors who are not entirely independent receive the support they need to be able to engage in their own routines, including comfortable amenities and personalized around-the-clock care.

Meet the Residents

Pat
Pat spent most of her years living between Fenton, Michigan and Daytona Beach, Florida. She worked many years as a nurse at Flint Osteopathic Hospital and GeneSys for an impressive 27 years. She is the loving mother of two daughters, one son and a proud grandmother. She loves watching crime shows and is always able to brighten everyone’s day with her upbeat personality and sense of humor. After her retirement Pat spent her time traveling the united states and several countries including China, Africa, Russia, Netherlands, Denmark, and Brazil! Pat loves to spend time with her family and friends and even celebrated her 80th birthday in Las Vegas, surrounded by 45 family members and friends. To top of her 80th birthday adventure Pat even went skydiving

Lois
Lois lived most of her life in the Fenton area. She was raised on Hill road near US 23 back when Hill road was still made of dirt! Lois adored her husband Cletus, and they were married for 64 wonderful years and have two sons together. She loves cooking, reading and even has a green thumb! Lois lights up anytime she sees a child, she spent years babysitting and being a bus driver. Her kind spirit and gentleness towards other truly makes Lois a joy to be around.

Bob
Bob is a native of Cleveland Ohio and spent most of his childhood playing football and running track. Following his high school graduation, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy. Bob attended Ohio Wesleyan University and went on to obtain his MBA from Harvard Business School! He spent his working years as a Purchasing Director for several door companies. Bob has been married to his wife Lois for over 68 years and together they share one daughter and two sons. They happily lived in Beverly Hills, Michigan and South Bend, Indiana. Bob’s contagious smile and conversation skills brighten up any room he enters!
Intermediate Care Facility with Everything Your Loved One Needs
Vicinia Gardens is proud to not only offer residents a safe and secure home but also provide a nurturing environment. We offer a continuum of care and the best in hospitality for all of our seniors. Our ICF is custom-designed with beautiful private suites that are comfortable, well-kept, and include both laundry and cleaning services as part of our amenities. Our residents can rent a fully furnished room or bring their own personal belongings. Residents receive three fresh and nutritious meals a day, plus snacks! Our menu is carefully crafted by a registered dietitian and is prepared by our skilled culinary team to meet each resident’s dietary needs.
Safety is one of our top priorities. All residents are connected through wifi and a 24-hour emergency nurse call system. As a tight-knit community, we also place great importance on encouraging socialization through group activities, communal spaces, games, outdoor activities, and monthly outings. Some of our socialization activities have changed over the past few months due to COVID-19. Rest assured, we follow strict guidelines to help keep our residents safe. Kelly’s background as a Registered Nurse and Certified Dementia Care Manager helps to guide us down a path of success. However, our dedication doesn’t stop at professional care. Our residents are family, and our friendly staff goes to great lengths to make them feel at home.

We offer specialized care and programs at our ICF that are designed for seniors suffering from early- to late-stage dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other types of memory loss. We also have a special needs plan for additional care options that could include hospice, additional staffing, and other unique circumstances. No matter the resident’s condition, you can count on our trained and dedicated staff to provide your loved one with the individualized care they need.

Meet the Team!
Campus Director – Jessica Sherbino
Jessica was born and raised in Montrose, Michigan. She has over 8 years of long-term care experience, including both mental health training and clinical care in this setting. She is fantastic with our residents and her clinical knowledge has become a great asset to our team. When she isn’t working you can find her at home with husband Jay and son Zander! Jessica loves being a Mom and was recently married in fall of 2021! Caregiving and leadership are two of Jessica’s passions, and we are so excited to have her on our team. RN-BSN-CALD-CDSM – Kelly Steffey
Kelly is part Owner of Assisti Care, LLC, our management company. She is a licensed Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience including critical care at McLaren and Visiting Nurse services. She has obtained a Bachelor of Health Care Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint as well as a certified dementia care manager and trainer. At Assisti Care, she oversees the licensing and management of our facilities. Kelly’s close, compassionate relationship with our residents and directors makes her the perfect leader of our medical team.
Leasing Director – Madison Bruce
Madison was born and raised in Gregory, MI. She moved to California with her family in 2008 and went on to attend California State University Long Beach. She moved back to Michigan last year, and her passion and experience for business and marketing led her to Vicinia Gardens! With a great eye for design and a knack for digital marketing, Madison made a great addition to our executive team. She is compassionate and kind towards our residents and has already made great effort to grow our community. She brings new and exciting ideas to the table and is a wiz when it comes to technology . Madison is so happy to be a Michigan resident again, and currently lives in Howell with her lab-husky mix, Ember.
